  Chapter 1

  Sarai Navarro

  Ever wished your life was different? I want to experience love, but I want someone who is crazy, someone who loves adventures, someone who can make me feel alive. Right now, I'm just existing, I'm plain, boring. My life consist in, school, house and hang out with my best friend, Jaxson. We're both social outcast.

  Jaxon is my best friend/cousin. He belongs to uncle Kayson and uncle Asher, they adopted him when he was one year old. I also have another best friend, but she lives in, Italy with her parents, Aurora and Nathaniel. She loves it there and says she'll never trade Verona for L.A. we're all the same age, which is 17. The good news, this is my last year of high school.

  "Little princess, if you don't get up this instant, I'll throw a bucket of water on you." My dad said as I snuggled the pillow.

  "No te atreverias.” —You wouldn't dare—

  “Apostamos?" —Wanna bet?—

  "Fine, I'm up." I sighed.

  He laughed as he left my bedroom. I swear he's too much sometimes. I got up and did my daily routine. I grabbed my bag and went downstairs.

  "Breakfast!" Mom yelled from the kitchen.

  I strolled over there and sat on the stool of the kitchen island.

  "Ri." My 2 year old baby sister said as she extended her little arms. I hugged her.

  "Are you excited for Senior year?" Mom asked me as she passed us coffee and gave, Valentina, her breakfast.

  "No, I hate that school and everyone in it." I replied in between bites.

  "Who knows, maybe you will find the love of your live there this year." Mom added.

  "Uhm, no. No dating, you're still very young." Dad chimed in. We chuckled.

  "I'm seventeen, but don't worry dad, guys don't find me attractive. They usually go for the cheerleaders. They don't like a nerd who spends her time in the library."

  "Just so you know, you're beautiful, inside and out. The right guy is out there." She hugged me.

  "And as much as it pains me, she's right. You got time, just wait." He smiled.

  I hugged my parents. They understand me so well. They mean the world to me. I said bye to them and left the house and drove to school, a.k.a. hell hole.

  I arrived to school and got out of the car. I was met with a hug.

  "I missed you." Jaxon hugged me.

  I chuckled as I hugged him back. "I did too."

  He spent his vacations in Verona. I went there for a week and then returned.

  "I decided to try out for the football team this year." He told me as we walked to the school.

  "That's awesome, just don't ignore me when you become popular. You're the only friend I have here." I sighed.

  Once you get popular, you start to ignore and forget your true friends. I should know, I had a friend and she tryout for cheerleader and that was the end of our friendship.

  "S, I could become the captain be extremely popular, and I would still not ignore you or forget you. Besides, Thiago would rip my head off. The man is twice my size.

  I laughed at that. "I love you, you goof."

  "And I love you, little one." He gave me a side hug.

  Jaxson and I have a friendship that makes you wonder if we're in a relationship. We just grew up together and have a tight bond. His ex girlfriend got so jealous of me, she thought I was into him. Guys and girls can be friends without having feelings involve.

  We entered the school and he went to his locker and I to mine.

  "Hi."

  I turned to see a girl with the most amazing purple eyes. They could be contacts.

  "Staring is bad." She chuckled.

  "Sorry, are those real?" I pointed at her eyes.

  "Yes, my grandfather has purple eyes. We're a very unique family. Some times they tend to change to red." She grinned.

  This girl was definitely interesting. I've never met someone like her.

  "I'm, Kendra."

  "I'm, Sarai." We shook hands.

  "Do you know where is my first class?"

  I grabbed her schedule, "you have all classes with me, come on I'll take you there."

  After a few classes, we went to the cafeteria. Jaxson didn't join me today since he is at tryouts.

  "Hey, want to have lunch outside, I want to support my friend. He's trying out for the football team." I told her.

  "I love football, let's go."

  We grabbed our food and went to the bench and watch the tryouts as we ate.

  "Go Jaxson!" I cheered him. He waved at me.

  "Is he your boyfriend?"

  I shook my head, "No, he's my best friend. Although people think that we're a couple because of the way our friendship is. His ex got so jealous of me."

  "Well, it's a good thing I don't mind your intense friendship." She said while checking out, Jaxson.

  I wish I could be that confident. Sadly, my shyness gets in the way of many things. I wish I could be like more like my parents. Not one ounce of shyness. They're bold and confident.

  After tryouts were over, the captain started to pick the new members. They chose a few except for, Jaxson. And it's not because he's my best friend, but he was the best playing.

  I sighed, "it's not fair they didn't pick him. And it's because he's not popular."

  "The fuck? Hell no, I wont stand here and see someone who deserves it, not getting in cause of popularity." Her eyes changed to red.

  Okay, she did say her eyes sometimes change to red. Must have something to do with the sun.

  Kendra

  I went to the field and tap on the captain's shoulder. He turned around and gave me a devilish smile. Asshole that doesn't work with me, I hate the whole bad boy, cool guy facade. I prefer sweet guys. Since everyone was busy, I decided to work some vampire magic.

  "Listen, Jaxson deserves a spot in the team, he's a great player and you know it too."

  "List-"

  I cut him off, "no you listen to me, you're going to let him in the team and treat him good. And if anyone says something to him, you'll throw them out of the team, bullying is not okay and you should start treating people nicely." I compelled him.

  "You're right."

  I left the field and went over to Sarai, she gave me a weird look. I told her that I knock some sense into him.

  "Jaxson, you're in the team, we have one more spot available and it's yours. And show him some respect everyone. I don't want bullying. If you do, then you're out." He told everyone and they nodded.

  After a few minutes, Jaxson made a run towards us. Sarai passed him a sandwich.

  "I don't know what you told the captain, but thank you." He smiled, "I'm Jaxson."

  "I'm, Kendra." We shook hands.

  "By the way, you have the most beautiful eyes I've ever seen in my life." I smiled at those words.

  I can tell he's really sweet and he is extremely hot. I'm surprised he doesn't have girls throwing themselves at him. Actually I'm glad he doesn't, I don't need to kill people and grandpa cleaning my mess.

  Chapter 2

  Evan Montgomery

  We live in a world where no one knows who anyone really is. I'm the perfect example of that, if you see me you think I'm normal, but I'm far from that, I'm a royal. And no, I'm not talking about kings and queens. My kind is the strongest.

  "A royal vampire!" One of the, Blackthorn's, hunters screamed.

  Blackthorn's are a family of Vampire hunters. They have made their life goal to end us all. They never learn, why would you go and mess with us, especially when our leader is the greatest most badass man, my great grandfather, Phoenix.

  "Seems like you're new." I said as I chocked him. "Most hunters already know who we are, but I see Colton, sent a newbie to the lions den. Shame your life ends today."

  Screams was all I heard, he was begging me for his life. Sadly I don't give a second chance to those who want to harm me and my family.

  "I should start charging for taking care of the bodies." I turned to see Paolo.

  "You're the best at it." I grinned.

  He shook his head. "Expect a visit later." With that said, he left.

  Wonder who. I left the alley and made my way to my parents house.

  "Did you take care of the problem?" Dad asked as he cut onions.

  "Yes, and I also took care of a hunter. They never learn." I rolled my eyes.

  "My baby brother is back." Nika, hugged me.

  "You're only two years older than me." I chuckled.

  Nika, is simply the best sister one can ask. Extremely protective of her.

  "Still older, you're forever 22." She chuckled as I did too.

  "And you're forever 24." I pinched her cheeks.

  "Uncle Evan, a mean kid stole my chocolate." My four year old niece pouted.

  I picked her up and hugged her. Emily is my sister's only biological child. The process for the surrogate to get pregnant failed a lot. But eventually it worked, but Nika, said she didn't want to go though that again, so in the future, she prefers to adopt and give a kid a home.

  "Bite them, sometimes a good bite is all it takes for them to stop bothering you." I tickled her, she laughed.

  "Stop teaching h
er bad stuff." Nika, shook her head. I laughed.

  "You're the best." Emily gave me a kiss on my cheek and then hugged me.

  "You're back in one peace." My mom hugged me.

  I love my family. Family is everything to us. I'm grateful that my parents adopted me when I was 2 years old. They found me on the streets in bad shape.

  "Im okay mom." I hugged her back.

  "I just worry when you or your sister are out, I worry when Emily is in kindergarten. I just want my family with me, always."

  "And we will, no matter what." I smiled as she did too.

  "Guess who?" Kendra appeared.

  "Paolo did say we were gonna get a visit." I hugged her.

  Kendra is Paolo's granddaughter. She's a vampire/witch.

  "Kendra!" Emily squealed as she hugged her.

  "I missed you too " She hugged her back. "I arrived yesterday, I love Italy, but I've missed L.A. so much. And today I had my first day as a Senior, I'm studying at your old school."

  "Good luck. That school is filled with bullies, popular, queen bees and many more." I told her.

  "Pff, those assholes don't scare me. I can always cast a spell or bite them." She grinned.

  "Uncle Evan says, a good bite always works." Emily said so innocently. We laughed.

  "I actually had to compelled the captain of the football team to let someone who deserves it, in the team."

  "Of course you did." I shook my head.

  "Oh, and I met a really sweet hot guy." She said in a daze, "and already made a new friend, she's also very sweet you would like her, she's your type."

  "I haven't dated a human in a while. I don't think I'll be in control if I do. Besides, she's in high school, I'm 22."

  "Yeah, 22 it's not that old, I mean in human years, you would already be 35. Be thankful you got changed at 22." She told me.

  Yeah that's right, I would be 35. The last time I dated a human was when I was 22. Then I stopped dating because she cheated and I decided to just to hookup, no feelings attached. But I did killed one of those hook-ups. I was hungry, I hadn't had blood in a whole day, and I was also a new vampire, I had no control.

  After a few hours of hanging out with my family, I went to my house. An empty house, I have no one to come home to. Sometimes I spend the weekend at my parents house.

  My phone started to ring, it was my dad.

  "Hey dad. Now? Alright I'm on my way."

  I hung up and left the house. I got in my car and drove to my parents house. They said they want to discuss something important. I was just there, I swear my dad can be a bit too much sometimes.

  My phone rang again.

  "Hey mom. Seriously? Fine, fine."

  I hung up. My mother wanting cake. She says she prefers cake over blood. She's nuts, there’s nothing more tastier than blood. I guess we're making a stop.

  "Siri, give me the address of the most popular bakery."

  Sarai

  I arrived at my parents bakery. I'm in need of some triple chocolate cake and cookies. I entered the bakery and was hit by the smell of delicious treats and coffee.

  "Hey little princess." Mom greeted me. "Your order is ready."

  "Finally cake and cookies."

  She chuckled. Dad came out of the back and greeted me.

  "It's 8 pm. Go home, I don't want you out this late alone." Dad told me.

  "It's not that late, but I understand I'm alone. I'll see you at home love you guys." I grabbed my stuff.

  "Love you too." They said in unison.

  I went to my car and placed my stuff in the back. Shoot, I forgot my coffee. I close the door and as I was about to walk to the bakery, two guys appeared. You know what, I don't need coffee.

  "Pretty lady, I would love to show you a good time" The creep told me.

  "And we will show her one." The other one told him.

  Times like these, I wish I hadn't park so far. But my parents bakery is always full so cars are all over the place.

  "Stay away from me."

  "No, I'm in need of a release."

  The one time I need people around, and it was empty. I don't want them to take my first time. And those assholes were really tall and the seem very strong, I don't stand a chance. But I still want to live, so I ran as far as I could, but it was all for nothing.

  "Caught ya." One if them grabbed my arm and pull me to him.

  "Stop! Don’t do this!" I started to scream as tears fell down my cheeks.

  "Your screams only make me hornier." He said as her started to remove my top.

  I tried to fight my way out, but it was no use, I was weak. I closed my eyes and expect the worst.

  Chapter 3

  You Are Not Real

  I closed my eyes and saw the 2 creeps on the floor, one of them was dead. The other one stood up and charged at the third guy. But what I saw was out of this world, literally. He sink his fangs into the creeps neck, this isn't real. Maybe they're all playing a joke. But it wasn't, he grabbed the guys head and snapped it. He dropped to the floor and that was it for him.

  "I was already full, but I can’t say no to blood." He said as he licked his mouth that was covered in blood.

  I gasped. "It's you."

  "What do you mean?"

  "I saw your eyes in my nightmares, but you're not real, you don't exist." I said as my heart was racing so fast.

  "You'd be surprised how many of us walk amongst humans." He smirked. "But since we don't want people knowing about us." He ran faster towards me, "it's time for you to forget."

  "Please don't hurt me." Tears fell down my cheeks, "I'm only 17."

  "I'm not gonna hurt you. We don't hurt innocent people. Just the ones who aren't innocent and love to harm others."

  I looked at his eyes, they could suck you in. They were icy blue, this guy is so handsome, I've never seen anyone like him in my life. There's something about him that caught my attention, and that's a lot coming from me, the guys at my school don’t Interest me. But this one, this one has, and I know I could never have him. And i know i should be afraid, but honestly, I'm not.

  "Forg-"

  "Wait. Before you do whatever you're about to do, is this real, I mean are you really a vampire? It could all be an act."

  "Is very real." His eyes changed to red and he show me his fangs. "And this." He froze the whole lake.

  "You can freeze stuff?"

  "Im a royal vampire, maybe if we crossed paths again and when I'm ready, I'll tell you more about it." He smiled.

  I smiled back, "so we will meet again?"

  "Yes. By the way, you're very beautiful. And if you were just two years older I wouldn't have to compel you since you're not afraid of me."

  "Thank you for saving me and for showing me a little of fantasy I thought only existed in books and movies." I chuckled.

  "See you soon. Forget everything you saw, go back to what you were going to do before running into those assholes."

  "What am I doing here?" I checked my phone and it was 9:30pm. "My parents are going to kill me."

  I saw two bodies covered in blood. I made a run to the car and got inside and drove home.

  Weird, when I left the bakery it was 8pm and I was next to my car. What a strange world we live in.

  Evan

  Damn, you know how people say, she's the most beautiful person in the world and you say, come on no one is that beautiful. But this girl is gorgeous, she has this innocence and shyness that attracted me. I honestly don't like bold girls. I prefer the sweet ones, like her. The fact that she wasn't afraid of me made her more interesting. She's either crazy, or just loves danger. But I had to compel her, if she was two years older things would be different.

  I arrived at my parents home and was attacked by my mother and niece for not bringing the sweets.

  "Ran into little trouble."

  "What happened?" Mom asked.

  "An innocent girl was about to get raped. I killed the bastards." I replied.

  "Yes, and you forgot to take care of the bodies." We turned to see Paolo. "Dont worry, already took care, Craig called and told me he saw you fleeing the scene with all the evidence on the street."

  "My bad, got distracted." I grinned. Distracted by a beautiful girl.

  He just smiled. I looked at him like he was crazy.

  "I wish we all got the gift to see the future." I sighed.

  "You can freeze stuff, that's a cool power." Kendra told me.
